Part I: Types of Cotton Fibers

The first part of a cotton fabrics and weaves which can be found in the market that can be used according to preference in any clothing such as the custom made shirts. This material is recognized as the most preferred fabric cloth for both ladies wear and mens shirts, and other garments which is used to cover things such as the table tops, and bed because of the special qualities and softness it comprises.

Diaper Cloth is a twill, plain or dob woven absorbent cotton.

Dimity is a sheer, thin in white or printed fabric with a longitudinally cords, stripes and checks.

Drill is a strong twilled cotton used in most men’s and women’s slacks.

Duck is the heavy, durable tightly woven fabric. The heavy weight drill is used in sun-blinds, tents, etc. Those lighter duck fabric may be used in summer wear clothes.

Flannel is a plain or twill weaved cotton with a slight nap on one or both sides. This is one of the options of fabric for custom made shirts tailor.

Flannelet is a fabric that is made of a soft cotton with a nap on one side.

Gauze is a sheer, lightly woven fabric that is also made of silk similar to a cheesecloth.

Gingham the lightweight, and washable yet stout fabric that is woven in tartans, checks or stripes.

Lawn is a combed plain tissue with soft and light crisp finish.

Muslin is a gauze-like to coarse plain woven cotton fabric. Muslin also comes in “natural” color or may be dyed according to preference.

Organdy is a thin, and transparent cotton sheer stiff muslin but with a crisp finish which can also be used for shirts or clothes for summer.

Outing flannel is a soft, plain or diagonal weave fabric napped on both sides. This is used for baby clothes, diapers, and sleepwear.
